Born in Amsterdam, he came to England as a child. Studied in London and was elected Associate of the Royal Society of Painter Etchers and Exhibited at the Salon, Royal Academy. His sister married Edmund Blampied.
Salomon van Abbé was noted for his drypoints of the legal profession and the law.
