André Bouquet was born in La Varenne - Saint -Hilaire and From 1933 on, he resided in Villeneuve Saint -Georges, a small city of the Parisian suburbs. Although he wanted to become an artist, he did not begin to paint full-time until 1950. In 1958, he began to exhibit his work throughout Europe. He created greeting cards for UNICEF. In Paris, he exhibited at the Grand Palais and "salon des Indépendants". He is regarded an important modern naive painter.
