Melot describes vi as "Second state, with few added lines prolonging the clouds" (page 290). A rich impression, printed in shades of black/brown ink on cream wove paper. Signed in the plate, lower left. Housed in an elegant gold leaf frame. $7,000.
In Le Départ pour le Travail, Millet chose to portrays a dignified, hard working couple going to work in the fields. Depicting his human figures with a classically sculptural simplicity, Millet shows the pair in harmony with their rural life.
