Amorsolo's bathers represent the epitome of Philippine beauty. The wet drapery on this young woman is both revealing and sensuous. The flower is symbolic of the woman herself. Price upon request.
Provenance: heir of Ann Curtis Taylor, who purchased the painting directly from the Amorsolo.

Sylvia Amorsolo-Lazo, the artist's daughter, learned to paint from her father, Fernando Amorsolo y Cueta. She was his assistant for twenty-five years, and is one of the primary experts on his paintings -- their subjects and authenticity. Sylvia has a private painting school in the Philippines. Here are two of her recent works.

Born in Vietnam in 1907, Le Pho was in the first class of artists that graduated from l'Ecole des Beaux Art de l'Indochine in Hanoi from 1925 to 1930, and then at the in Paris during the following two years. Le Pho traveled to France in 1932 to study painting l'Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. After returning to Vietnam, he became a teacher at the same Indochina Fine Arts School in Hanoi. In 1937, Le Pho moved to France where he continued to live and paint until his death in December 2001.
