Martin Shortis studied at the Ruskin and the R.A. Schools and later at Goldsmith's College, where he concentrated on making large commissioned drawings working on the spot. In addition to teaching at the Royal Drawing School, he is also Head of the Print Room. He has taught since 1992 and continues to draw outside and around London.
