Pine Needles. Dark ground Japanese paper stencil on mulberry paper treated with persimmon juice and smoked. Carved with thrust cut technique. 6 x 14 (sheet 10 1/8 x 15 3/4). A chirashi (scattered pattern). Pine needles were often used on old ladies clothing and symbolized marital fidelity, long life etc. $350.
