Eric Glidden Scott was born in Bega, New South Wales. After serving in the Australian Armed forces, Scott studied at the Sydney Art school. In 1920 he went to Paris where he studied at the Academie Julian. He lived in Paris in the 1920's and early 30's. He moved to Chicago where he attended the Art Institute. He remained in the U.S. Scott signed much of his work with a Kangaroo monogram, Indicating that although he lived and worked abroad he wanted his work to be recognised as Australian.
