Hardie describes the image: "A view looking down on the Quai Gambetta. Carts and horses are moving across the foreground. At the quayside, edged by fishing-boats, men are drying nets. To the left, the bridge crosses the harbour to the Capecure quartier; on a distant hill to the rright is the windmill at Henriville.
The etching was made from the top floor of the Hôtel Richmond."
